How does the Machine-ID Hardware Lock work?

Each computer has a unique motherboard BIOS UUID and processor serial number. When Buddy POS is installed, our software generates a unique 16-character cryptographic hash (Machine ID). Your license key binds to this specific computer. This ensures complete software protection without requiring you to stay connected to the internet.

Does the POS system need an active internet connection?

No! Day-to-day sales, barcode scanning, customer balance tracking, and thermal receipt printing operate 100% locally on your computer. An internet connection is only needed once for initial 2-second activation and for periodic background license updates.

Can I transfer my license if I upgrade or change my computer?

Yes! If your computer breaks down or you purchase a newer cash counter PC, you can contact our support team or use our client portal at ebuddy.lk/licensing to release your old Machine ID. Your license key can then be re-bound to your new hardware.

What thermal printers and barcode scanners are supported?

Buddy POS supports all industry-standard ESC/POS thermal printers (80mm and 58mm widths) including SGT-88IV, Epson, Xprinter, Rongta, POS-58, and Black Copper, connected via USB, LAN, or Serial. It also works with all standard plug-and-play 1D and 2D QR laser barcode scanners.

Are there any hidden monthly or yearly subscription fees?

No. The software is sold as a lifetime perpetual license. You pay once and own the software for life. Your purchase includes 1 full year of free bug fixes and customer support. Optional annual maintenance is available if you want priority on-site assistance.

Can I run multiple counters in the same shop?
